The Problem
Within 10 year China has to built 400.000.000 new homes for their inhabitants. In order to built them, China has to use 25% of their farmerground and 50% of their coalstock. This is ofcourse a big problem that needs to be solved in an environment friendly way.
Cradle to Cradle
Cardle to Cradle offers a new solution to create new products without polluting the environment. According to the Cradle tot Cradle thought: waste equals food.Products should be designed from the mindset so that, after their useful live, they will provide nourishment for something new. They can be conceived as `Biological nutrients´ that will easily reenter the water or soil without depositing synthetic materials and toxins. Or they can be ´technical nutreints´that will continually circulate as pure and valuable materials within closed-loop industrial cycles, rather than being ´recycled´ really, downcycled into low-grade materials and uses.
The Concept
With this design filosophy in mind we started to brainstorm for new sustainable solutions. This is the result: A modulair appartment building with a hornetsnest cel -structure made out of EPS plastic foam.
